Arethusa Venture Centre
Positive activities in the natural environment
Situated on the banks of the River Medway in north Kent, we have residential facilities for 120 and offer a vast range of exciting and adventurous activities. This picturesque part of rural Kent offers access to historic Rochester and Chatham and is only an hour's drive from London.

Raising achievement
Catering for children from the age of eight upwards, the centre offers a wide range of positive and adventurous activities to help children and young people in their personal development, in confidence - building and problem solving. We focus particularly on the years of transition from primary to secondary school, when research has demonstrated the positive links between our outdoor education and improved attitudes and results at Key Stage 2.
Curriculum linked
All relevant curriculum links for each of the activities by Key Stage have been identified and these are built into our planning meetings with teachers or group leaders.
Building life skills
Positive outcomes are vital and our activities are linked to the development of key life skills such as listening, risk perception, tolerance and trust
Special needs
The learning experiences from adventure activities are also beneficial for young people with more challenging behaviours and special needs. Our qualified Staff are skilled in working with groups of children and young people.
Activities include
Archery, Canoeing, Climbing wall, High and Low Ropes, Initiative Games, Orienteering, Problem Solving, Raft Building, Sailing, Swimming, and off-site visits.
